The Laboratory of Fisheries Environmental Conservation has been established since the foundation of PRFRI. Assuming the Fisheries Eco-environmental Monitoring Center of the Pearl River, MOA, it launches numerous investigation and continuous monitoring for years in the river basin, especially in the river estuary and the delta. Numbers of national, provincial scientific projects were granted for researches on river water quality early warning, the mechanism of aquatic ecosystem rehabilitation, migration and transformation of toxic pollutants and ecological risk assessment, which provides scientific support to the protection and sustainable development of the fisheries eco-environment in the Pearl River Basin, and has achieved a series of progress.
The lab consists of 9 in-service staff, including 3 professors/associate professors, and 6 assistant professors. 2 master’s supervisors were appointed. By January 2018, 11 master candidates had been graduated. For research equipped with more than 5 sets of instruments such as gas chromatography, flow injection analyzer, atomic fluorescence Spectrometer, atomic absorption Spectrometer and Zeiss optical inverted microscope.
Research scope:
1. Fisheries environmental monitoring and ecological risk assessment
2. River ecological damage assessment of and biosecurity early warning
3. Aquaculture rehabilitation and environmental monitoring
