The scene of wild turtle adaptation protection in 2020
This activity is the first landmark activity to publicize and implement the spirit of the "turtle rescue action plan (2019-2035)" issued by the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas in 2019, and it is also a specific measure to implement the central ecological civilization construction strategy.
Turtle is a national first-class key protected animal. It is an important indicator species of ecological health in the Pearl River and even in the south of the Yangtze River. It has important scientific value in the study of paleogeography and paleontology evolution. It is of great significance to protect the diversity of aquatic organisms, maintain the stability of aquatic ecosystem and promote the harmonious development between human and nature. In recent years, due to the impact of human activities, its habitat has seriously deteriorated, and the number of wild turtles has declined sharply. At present, only 13 parents and more than 700 offspring are kept under artificial conditions. The population is extremely endangered, and the continuation of the species is facing severe challenges. A total of 20 4-5-year-old juvenile turtles were wild in this activity. The adaptability of field life of the turtles was gradually enhanced through the late effect evaluation, so as to promote the gradual recovery of the turtle population.

According to the action objectives and contents of the action plan, we will increase the investment and efforts in the protection of the turtle, strengthen the research on the artificial domestication and breeding of the turtle, speed up the protection and restoration of the turtle habitat, effectively guarantee the rescue of the turtle species, effectively promote the recovery of the wild population of the turtle, plan to realize the comprehensive protection of the turtle population, and gradually realize the rescue protection, restorative protection and comprehensive protection of the turtle Sexual protection. The action plan is the seventh aquatic life protection action plan after Chinese sturgeon, Yangtze finless porpoise, Chinese white dolphin, spotted seal, Yangtze sturgeon and sea turtle. It is also the first action plan for the protection of aquatic organisms in the Pearl River Basin.
Zhu Xinping, deputy director of Pearl River Fisheries Research Institute
Since 2015, the Pearl River Fisheries Research Institute has carried out scientific and technological cooperation with Wanlvyuan ecological breeding Co., Ltd. of Gaoming District, Foshan City, and established the Pearl River Fisheries Research Institute (Gaoming) turtle breeding and protection research base in 2017. After more than four years of research, it has the largest number of parents and offspring in China. Zhu Xinping's research team of Pearl River Research Institute has devoted themselves to the research of turtle conservation and successfully mastered the artificial breeding technology of turtle, becoming the first research team to break through the breeding technology of turtle in China. The first set of turtle greenhouse cultivation patent system has been jointly developed, which greatly improves the survival rate of young turtle. At the same time, prri has also provided strong technical support for government and social work, such as the preparation of the action plan, the selection of wild sites, and the establishment of the turtle Protection Alliance.
