渔业环境保护研究室成立于建所初期，现有在编职工8人，博士学历6人，其中高级职称4人，中级职称6人，硕士生导师3人。研究室配备较完善的化学检测和生物检测设备，包括气相色谱、流动注射分析仪、原子荧光分光光度计、原子吸收分光光度计、蔡司光学倒置显微镜等大型仪器。研究室依托农业农村部珠江流域渔业生态环境监测中心，立足珠江流域，开展了持续性、系统性监测、调查和研究工作，包括渔业环境监测与质量评价，尤其是重金属、持久性有机污染物迁移转化与风险评估及生态毒理研究；浮游植物、浮游动物、水生植物及大型底栖动物生态功能研究等，为珠江流域渔业生态环境保护和可持续发展提供科学支撑，并取得一系列成果。
