The two new aquatic varieties of Hehua carp "Ruyuan No. 1" and qiaozui mandarin fish "Guangqing No. 1" led by the Pearl River Institute have been approved by the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas, and the variety registration numbers are gs-01-002-2021 and gs-01-003-2021 respectively.
Hehua carp "Ruyuan No. 1" is a new aquatic variety jointly cultivated by Zhu Huaping researcher team of PRFRI, animal husbandry, veterinary and aquatic affairs center of Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County, Guangdong fishery technology promotion station and other units. This variety is based on the rice field breeding population of South China carp (commonly known as Hehua carp) and 200 individuals selected from the wild population of South China carp in the Beijiang River of the Pearl River system as the basic population. Taking the growth speed and body shape as the target traits, the population breeding technology is adopted and bred for 5 consecutive generations. It has the characteristics of fast growth, short and round body shape, weak jumping ability, special purpose for rice fishing culture, etc. under the same rice field breeding conditions, compared with the common cultivated Hehua carp The average growth rate of carp at the age of 10 months increased by 29.3%; Body length / body height and caudal stalk length / caudal stalk height decreased by 25.8% and 22.5% respectively. It is suitable for breeding in artificially controllable paddy water bodies such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and Hunan. "Ruyuan No. 1" of Hehua carp is the first new variety of Hehua carp suitable for rice fishery comprehensive cultivation approved by the National Aquatic original and improved variety Approval Committee in China.
"Guangqing No. 1" is a new aquatic variety bred by the team led by researcher Ye Xing of PRFRI and Yushun agriculture, animal husbandry and Fishery Technology Service Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Yushun company) in Qingxin District, Qingyuan City. This variety is based on the wild population of mandarin fish collected from Qiupu River in Anhui Province and Dongting Lake District in Hunan Province in 2013 and the "Huakang No. 1" of mandarin fish of Yushun company 600 individuals selected from the breeding population were selected as the basic population, with growth rate and survival rate as the target characters, and were selected by family breeding technology for 4 consecutive generations. Under the same culture conditions, compared with "Huakang 1", the growth rate increased by 16.3% and the survival rate increased by 12.6%. It is suitable for aquaculture in artificially controllable freshwater bodies such as Guangdong, Hubei, Jiangsu and Anhui. In recent years, "Guangqing No. 1" seedling of Siniperca chuatsi has been favored by farmers in main breeding areas such as Guangdong, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Anhui and Jiangxi because of its fast growth, high individual uniformity and strong resistance.
In recent years, PRFRI has thoroughly implemented the decisions and arrangements of the central government, the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas, the Guangdong provincial Party committee and the provincial government on fighting a turnaround in the seed industry, focused on varieties and concentrated the most advantageous forces to carry out aquatic breeding research; Since the 12th Five Year Plan, eight new aquatic varieties have been cultivated, including big mouth bass "Youwei 1", "Youwei 3", snakehead "black spotted Hybrid Snakehead", Moho tilapia "Guangfu 1", tilapia "Yuemin 1", Chinese soft shelled turtle "Zhushui 1", Hehua carp "Ruyuan 1" and cocked mandarin fish "Guangqing 1".
