At the invitation of the Prek Leap National Agricultural University of Cambodia and in accordance with the implementation plan of the China-ASEAN Maritime Cooperation Fund project "China-ASEAN Fisheries Resources Protection and Development and Utilization ", thePearl River FIsheries Research Institute(PRFRI) selected Xie Jun, Wang Guangjun, Yu Deguang and Li Zhifei to conduct a five-day cooperative exchange on rice fish cultivation and utilization in Cambodia.
While in Cambodia, the experts of Pearl River FIsheries Research Institute(PRFRI) conducted academic exchanges with the National Agricultural University of Prek Leap and the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (National Aquaculture Research and Development Institute,NARDI) of the Fisheries Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia on the theme of "Comprehensive cultivation of rice and fish ". While visiting the Prek Leap National Agricultural University of Cambodia, Nerang Sary professors and Saing Dara professors of the Agricultural University introduced the history of fish farming in rice fields in Cambodia, the main supporting fish farming and the main problems. During the visit of the National Aquaculture Research and Development Institute (NARDC), field research was conducted on the unit's rice field fish culture facilities. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on rice field fish culture varieties and key points of culture technology, and gave technical guidance to Cambodia in the areas of rice field stocking fish, stocking time and culture management technology. At the same time, they also visited the NARDC breeding base and reached a consensus on the next step of cooperation.
In addition, the experts of Pearl River FIsheries Research Institute(PRFRI) went to the province of Kengjing of Cambodia to investigate the situation of fishery culture in the Mekong River Basin, and conducted in-depth investigation on the current fishery breeding varieties, development and utilization, and went to enterprises planning to carry out rice field breeding to conduct field interviews, put forward specific implementation plans for the construction of enterprise breeding base, in the construction of rice field engineering system, daily management of aquaculture and other aspects of in-depth discussion with Cambodian farming enterprises, and establish cooperation intention with Cambodian enterprises.
Through this visit, we have strengthened the fisheries cooperation and exchange between China and Cambodia. At the same time, we have established a good exchange platform with the Cambodian fishery authorities, university research teams and aquaculture enterprises, which will help China export mature aquaculture technology to Cambodia and better complete the mission.
