Key Laboratory of Tropical & Subtropical Fishery Resources Utilization & Cultivation.Ministry of Agriculture,P.R.China was established with the approval of the Ministry of agriculture in 2011, relying on the Pearl River Fisheries Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences. There are 41 permanent staff, including 17 senior titles. It has "tropical and subtropical fish genetic breeding center of the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas" and "Guangdong freshwater aquatic Germplasm Resources Database" and other provincial and ministerial experimental bases. The laboratory is now more than 2600 square meters, the total value of instruments and equipment is 19.47 million yuan; the field base is 298 Mu and the supporting room is 1000 square meters.
Focusing on the utilization and cultivation of tropical and subtropical aquatic resources, the laboratory undertakes national major scientific research tasks, innovates key technologies for cultivation of fine varieties and efficient ecological aquaculture, concentrates scientific and technological resources and technical advantages, strengthens discipline exchange, and forms a discipline system with clear direction and prominent advantages through effective allocation of talents and resources. We will improve the platform construction and improve the level of scientific research equipment and conditions. Improve the system, improve the operation mechanism, ensure the efficient operation of the laboratory.
The main research directions of the laboratory are as follows: 1. Aquatic germplasm resources and genetic breeding: basic biological research and utilization of germplasm resources of turtles and economic fishes in southern China, cultivation of fine varieties and breeding technology. 2. Healthy aquaculture and nutrition: optimization of efficient aquaculture technology and mode in pond, integration of intensive aquaculture technology, nutritional feed and healthy aquaculture of aquatic animals. 3. Gene resource development and transgenic fish research: mainly carry out genome research of fish and turtle, molecular breeding and transgenic fish research.
